Welcome to Motoko School !
Motoko is a new language developed by DFINITY, it’s a language designed to write canisters code. A canister is a piece of software running on the Internet Computer, it is a building block for any application working on the Internet Computer.
A canister is basically a WebAssembly module so any language that complies to WebAssembly can be used to write canister code.
However, Motoko integrates natively in the Internet Computer so it will be easier for you to create applications on the Internet Computer if you have Motoko knowledge; plus the logo is cool.

Motoko School is for people interested in forming a community of builders and learners with people all around the world.
We already have fantastic developers working on the Internet Computer, but something is missing.
In the traditional world if you wanted to learn something you could go to a school, meet people, listen to teachers and you had a clear path to follow, people to talk to and teachers to guide you.
Now the rules have changed, and more and more people learn online, so why the School isn’t moving online?
Motoko School is an attempt to create an online school, a public service for the Internet Computer.
Our goals are multiples and will probably take time before being realized:
- Community event and meetings: you have a small project, and you want to present it to people? You are looking for someone to collaborate with you? Or maybe you just want to talk to people about your learning path, your questions, your projects because after all we are a lot to work alone, and social connection is as important as cultivating your knowledge.
- Creating and regrouping content around Motoko and anything related to Internet Computer development : Exercises/ Video content / Tutorials /Guided projects.
- Create a system that integrates token and reward you with “Motoko School” tokens if you contribute to the community by answering questions, publishing content, follow a tutorial, succeed to an exercise or just any other positive action. That would make learning funnier and even contributing as a teacher a rewarding experience.
To realize those goals the Motoko School would have its own public platform on the Internet Computer that would serve as a hub to implement those services.
Motoko School is still just an idea.
I am a young developer, and I will need a lot of time before being able to realize this vision.
This vision will probably change with time and as the needs for the community evolves.
On the meantime Motoko School will relay all relevant content concerning Motoko and other aspect of Internet Computer development.
